graduated in Chemical Engineering (1968) at U. Porto and received his Dr. Ing degree (1973) from the U. Nancy. He is Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of U. Porto (FEUP) since he retired in 2013. He was Visiting Professor at U. Technologie Compiègne, U. Virginia, U. Oviedo and U. F. Ceará. He was the founder of LSRE. His research activities are focused on cyclic adsorption/reaction processes, lignin valorization, perfume engineering and microencapsulation. He has supervised more than 90 PhD students and published 800+ papers , several books and patents
